Lebanese University contract professors to continue strike
The Contract Professors Committee at the Lebanese University has announced that the ongoing strike will continue until the government officially approves the tenure file. This decision follows a survey of approximately 800 contract professors, in which over 90% of participants voted to maintain the strike.
The committee expressed significant dissatisfaction with the Lebanese government and the Minister of Education, citing broken promises and a failure to meet a one-month deadline to resolve the issue. The committee stated that professors have endured these professional hardships for more than 12 years and warned that trust in the government is rapidly eroding.
In a statement, the committee called for solidarity from permanent faculty and the professors' association, urging a comprehensive strike. They also invited students to support their professors in their pursuit of rights, asserting that there will be no return to teaching until the tenure file is fully and formally approved.
