Lebanon issues arrest warrants for Hezbollah officials over explosives seizure

Lebanese judicial authorities have issued two arrest warrants for Hezbollah officials following an investigation into a shipment of explosives seized by security forces. The warrants were issued by Judge Claude Ghanem, the government commissioner at the Military Court, after preliminary investigations identified the suspects believed to have coordinated the transport.

The seizure occurred on October 8, when security forces intercepted a truck carrying approximately 500 kilograms of highly explosive materials being transported from eastern Lebanon toward Beirut. Two individuals, including the son of a Hezbollah official, were detained at the scene. During questioning, the detainees provided the military aliases of two other individuals involved in coordinating the shipment.

Hezbollah representative Hassan Fadlallah previously stated that the group had informed judicial and security authorities that the vehicle and its cargo belonged to the resistance and were intended for use against Israeli occupation. This incident occurs amid a broader government plan to assert state authority over weaponry and control the movement of arms within the country.
