Lebanon launches Dahr al-Bidder road rehabilitation project
Lebanese Minister of Public Works and Transport, Fayez Rassamni, has officially launched a project to rehabilitate 17 kilometers of the Dahr al-Bidder road. The project spans from the Sawfer transformer to the Qab Elias junction in Chtaura, serving as a vital artery connecting Beirut to the Bekaa Valley and providing a land route toward Syria.
The rehabilitation work includes resurfacing, road marking, and addressing eight specific landslide points. Additionally, the project involves upgrading drainage systems, installing side barriers and reflectors, and implementing a hybrid lighting system that utilizes both electricity and solar energy.
Rassamni noted that the ministry managed to implement the project at a significantly lower cost than previous estimates by re-evaluating needs without compromising technical specifications. He emphasized that the ministry is prioritizing the efficient use of public funds and will maintain strict oversight through consultants to ensure quality and accountability.
