Lebanon Ministry of Health signs pharmaceutical sector cooperation protocol
The Lebanese Order of Pharmacists and medicine importers have signed a cooperation protocol aimed at strengthening relationships within the pharmaceutical sector. Sponsored by Public Health Minister Rakan Nasser El-Din, the agreement seeks to improve working conditions for pharmacists, specifically regarding financial facilities and mechanisms for handling returns.
Minister Nasser El-Din stated that while Lebanon has managed to stabilize medicine prices despite general inflation, the Ministry is working to find a balance between preventing additional costs for citizens and ensuring pharmacists receive a “realistic and reasonable” commission. This commission is intended to provide a dignified income that allows pharmacies to remain operational.
Pharmacists Order President Abdel Rahman Merkabawi expressed appreciation for the Ministry’s efforts to place the pharmacist commission file on a legal track, noting that the move is essential for improving professional and living conditions amidst difficult economic circumstances.
