Lebanon Ministry of Public Works rehabilitates southern infrastructure
The Lebanese Ministry of Public Works and Transport is implementing an extensive program to rehabilitate roads and infrastructure across southern Lebanon. Under the supervision of Minister Fayez Rasamny, the initiative prioritizes areas damaged by recent hostilities and vital transport corridors in the districts of Tyre, Sidon, Jezzine, Nabatieh, Marjayoun, and Hasbaya.
Key projects include repairing war-damaged roads, constructing temporary crossings, building support walls, and improving drainage systems. In the Tyre district, the ministry is working with the Litani River Authority to create a water culvert and temporary crossing in Tyrefelsieh to replace a destroyed bridge. This aims to restore connectivity between the banks of the Litani River and facilitate the movement of citizens and agricultural goods between Sidon, Zahrani, and Tyre.
In Marjayoun, completed works include paving the road from Al-Sawane junction toward Touline, specifically in the Al-Fattour area, to ensure access to local schools. Other efforts include road maintenance on the Ibl al-Saqi – Marjayoun axis. In the Sidon and Zahrani regions, rehabilitation programs cover various local roads and the structural restoration of the Al-Shamsiya bridge in Al-Aqabiya to enhance traffic safety.
