Lebanese General Security marks 81st anniversary

On the 81st anniversary of the founding of the Lebanese General Security, Director General Major General Hassan Chaker issued a directive emphasizing the need for vigilance at the borders. Chaker highlighted that the institution's responsibilities have expanded to include combating terrorism, organized crime, smuggling, illegal migration, cybercrime, and document forgery, alongside managing border crossings, residency, and travel documents.

President Joseph Aoun also extended congratulations to the General Security, describing the institution as a vital pillar of stability and a safeguard for national security. He noted that despite Lebanon's current economic and social challenges, the General Security has maintained its readiness to protect sovereignty and combat security threats. Aoun also acknowledged the economic hardships faced by military and security personnel, stating that the government is working to address these crises through institutional efforts.
