Lebanon's President marks 41st anniversary of State Security

President Joseph Aoun issued a congratulatory message to Major General Edgar Laoundes and the staff of the General Directorate of State Security on the 41st anniversary of the agency's founding.

The President emphasized that the security apparatus has regained its vitality and effectiveness over the past two years following previous attempts to marginalize and limit its role. He described the agency as a vital safeguard for stability, a tool for combating corruption, and a mechanism for protecting public funds and citizens' rights.

President Aoun also honored the martyrs of the State Security Directorate who were killed during an Israeli strike on their headquarters in Nabatieh while performing their national duties. He reaffirmed the state's commitment to supporting and strengthening the agency's capabilities to ensure it remains a pillar of national security and the rule of law.
