Lebohang Maboe injury threatens Bafana Bafana return

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Lebohang Maboe has sustained an injury that may jeopardize his upcoming return to the Bafana Bafana national team. Maboe was forced off during a goalless draw against Lamontville Golden Arrows, having been withdrawn at halftime due to physical discomfort.

While the exact severity of the injury remains unconfirmed, Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Dillon Sheppard indicated it could be a slight ankle sprain. The club is awaiting further medical assessments to determine the extent of the issue. The injury is particularly significant as Maboe was recently selected by coach Pitso Mosimane for the national squad following a five-year absence from international football.

In addition to Maboe, Kaizer Chiefs are facing other fitness concerns. Goalkeeper Brandon Petersen is expected to miss up to six weeks due to a knee injury sustained in training, and striker Wandile Duba is sidelined for approximately two weeks with a hip and groin issue.
