LeBron James explores free agency as NBA trades Miles Bridges to Phoenix Suns

NBA free‑agent market opens as veteran forward LeBron James tells the Los Angeles Lakers he will not return for another season and will seek a new contract. The 41‑year‑old has attracted interest from the Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers and San Antonio Spurs, while the Lakers consider extending his current deal.

In a separate move, the Charlotte Hornets have dealt 28‑year‑old forward Miles Bridges, a 2029 first‑round pick and a 2027 second‑round pick to the Phoenix Suns. In return the Hornets receive guards Grayson Allen and Royce O’Neale, plus a 2033 first‑round pick. The trade gives Phoenix a $20 million tax‑saving advantage and adds a proven scorer to its roster, while Charlotte gains depth and future draft assets.
