LeBron James manages chronic health issues entering 24th NBA season
LeBron James is entering his 24th NBA season as the league’s oldest player, currently playing for the Philadelphia 76ers. As he prepares for the 2026/27 campaign, reports indicate he is managing chronic health issues, specifically arthritis in his left foot and sciatica in his lower back.
To manage these conditions, James follows an intensive daily routine under the supervision of longtime athletic trainer Mike Mancias. This includes arriving at the Sixers' facility several hours before official team activities to undergo stretching, muscle activation, and therapeutic treatments. To minimize physical strain during travel, James reportedly uses a helicopter to commute from New York to the team facility.
The Philadelphia 76ers organization, including head coach Nick Nurse, is reportedly discussing workload management strategies to ensure James remains effective for a potential postseason run, which may include limiting his participation in back-to-back games.
