LeBron James makes preseason debut with Philadelphia 76ers

LeBron James made his preseason debut for the Philadelphia 76ers on October 8, 2026, in a 114-108 loss to the Brooklyn Nets. In 18 minutes of play, the 41-year-old veteran recorded 10 points, five assists, and four rebounds, notably going 8-for-8 from the free-throw line.

James appears to be transitioning into a primary playmaker role within a revamped roster that includes Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, Jaylen Brown, and VJ Edgecombe. Head coach Nick Nurse and teammates praised James’s ability to read the game and direct the offense.

Despite the high-profile additions, James cautioned that building chemistry among a star-studded group takes time, comparing the process to avoiding ‘instant oatmeal’ in favor of something more substantial. The 76ers face high championship expectations following significant offseason acquisitions.
