Worlds 2026: LEC teams secure major upsets in League of Legends Swiss Stage

The Swiss Stage of the 2026 League of Legends World Championship has seen significant upsets from European LEC representatives. Movistar KOI delivered a major shock by defeating LPL powerhouse Bilibili Gaming in a best-of-one match, despite being ranked 41st in Elo power rankings compared to Bilibili Gaming's 4th.

In another notable result, Karmine Corp defeated the LPL's first seed, Anyone's Legend. This follows a difficult start for Anyone's Legend, who subsequently lost to Top Esports, dropping them to a 0-2 record and placing them on the brink of elimination.

As the tournament progresses, the Swiss Stage format dictates that teams must reach three wins to advance to the quarterfinals, while three losses result in elimination. Following these opening rounds, the Swiss Round 2 draw includes matchups such as Team Liquid versus Bilibili Gaming in the 0-1 pool, and high-stakes LCK clashes including Gen. G versus Hanwha Life Esports in the 1-0 pool.
