Lecce announces new organization for Sant’Oronzo festival
The city administration of Lecce has announced a new organizational plan for the 2026 Sant’Oronzo, Giusto, and Fortunato celebrations. Due to ongoing construction at the Ettore Giardiniero stadium and adjacent squares for the Mediterranean Games, the festival's geography will be significantly altered.
A major change includes relocating the Luna Park to the Via Bari market area. This move has prompted concerns from local residents regarding noise and traffic in the densely populated neighborhood. In response, the municipality is working with operators to implement technical solutions to limit noise pollution and protect residents and pets.
The religious celebrations are scheduled from August 23 to 27, while the commercial fair will run from August 23 to 26. The fair will feature approximately 215 stalls distributed across various streets, including Viale Marconi and Via Cavallotti, though it will bypass Via XXV Luglio due to paving works. Additionally, a dedicated food truck area will be established between Via Bari and Via Antonio Lisi to centralize food services and prevent congestion along the fair route.
