Lecce: COSAP calls for increased road police resources

The police union COSAP is calling for structural improvements to road safety and increased staffing for the Lecce Road Police Section. The request follows recent safety concerns regarding the SP 358 and the coastal roads connecting Otranto, Porto Badisco, and Santa Cesarea Terme.

According to the union, these specific routes were already identified by the Prefecture of Lecce as high-risk areas due to illegal gatherings and unauthorized motor competitions. COSAP is urging the Department of Public Security to provide more personnel, vehicles, and tools specifically tailored to the needs of the Salento territory, rather than a generic increase in regional staff.
