Italy judicial updates: sentences for violence and major acquittals

Various judicial proceedings across Italy have resulted in a range of sentences and acquittals involving domestic violence, organized crime, and corruption.

In cases of domestic abuse, a 35-year-old man was sentenced to five years in Terni for sexual violence and mistreatment of his partner. In Crotone, a man was placed under house arrest following reports of physical and psychological abuse, while in Corciano, a 24-year-old faces house arrest for stalking and threats against an ex-partner. Additionally, a 29-year-old man in Città di Castello received a sentence of over two years for long-term mistreatment of his partner.

Regarding organized crime and corruption, the Court of Appeal in Milan acquitted former Cinisello Balsamo mayor Siria Trezzi and others of corruption charges related to urban planning. In the Nebrodi 2 trial in Patti, 45 convictions were issued, though the court ruled there was no evidence of mafia involvement in the distribution of EU agricultural funds. In Lecce, convictions were upheld for the violent assault of a Malian citizen.

Other rulings include the acquittal of an entrepreneur in Sant'Agnello regarding the occupation of a church square, and the dismissal of a case in Imperia where a prosecutor requested acquittal for a mayor regarding verbal intimidation of local police.
