Lecce extends Tiago Gabriel contract amid Brentford interest
Lecce has secured the future of Portuguese center-back Tiago Gabriel by signing him to a contract extension that runs until June 2030. The renewal, negotiated alongside agent Jorge Mendes, provides the Italian club with significant leverage in future transfer discussions.
Brentford has shown persistent interest in the 21-year-old defender, having previously had a €17 million plus €3 million bonus proposal rejected in January. Lecce is reportedly seeking a fee in the range of €30 million to €40 million for the player. Other clubs, including Crystal Palace, Fulham, and AC Milan, have also been linked to the defender.
While AC Milan reportedly entered negotiations for Gabriel in late August, the move did not materialize. Reports indicate that Milan management ultimately decided the costs were too high and that coach Ruben Amorim was not fully convinced by the signing for his defensive department.
