Lecce judicial proceedings: former healthcare worker and drug trafficking suspects face trial

In Lecce, Italy, two separate legal developments have emerged involving criminal charges.

A former socio-sanitary operator (OSS) has been ordered to stand trial for illicit interference in private life and the possession of pornographic material, including content involving minors. The former worker, who operated at a facility for pathological addictions under the Lecce ASL, is accused of filming patients without their knowledge while they were providing urine samples for toxicological exams. Investigators discovered at least 97 photographs and a video on the individual's devices. The defendant has claimed the photos were taken due to vision problems to better monitor sample collection. The trial is scheduled for February 15, 2027.

Separately, prosecutors have requested that 44 individuals face trial in connection with ‘Operation Core’. This investigation, conducted between 2015 and 2018, uncovered a large-scale system for the supply and distribution of cocaine, hashish, and marijuana. Paolo Guadadiello is identified as the leader of the drug trafficking association, supported by a network of associates responsible for distribution, collection, and accounting. Charges include drug trafficking, possession of an illegal firearm, and aggravated extortion.
