Lecce officials address urban mobility and environmental health
In Lecce, Alberto Siculella, President of Menti Indipendenti, has criticized the city's urban mobility and parking management. He noted that between 2016 and 2026, local transport passenger numbers remained stagnant at approximately 1.5 million annually, despite over 80,000 daily vehicle entries into the city. Siculella argued that public parking is being replaced by private options and that interchange parking facilities remain underutilized.
Separately, the 19th edition of the “Environment and Health” conference, organized by LILT, was held at the University of Salento. The event focused on the theme of “Rinaturalizing to Live,” featuring discussions on the European Nature Restoration Law and the health challenges posed by climate change. Lecce Vice Mayor Roberto Giordano Anguilla attended to express the administration's support for environmental and public health initiatives.
