Lecce and Rimini police arrest suspects for robbery and vandalism

Police in Italy have arrested two men following separate incidents of robbery and vandalism.

In Lecce, a 30-year-old man was arrested at the Vito Fazzi hospital after allegedly attempting to rob a woman of her necklace and wedding ring. During the incident, the suspect reportedly pushed the woman’s minor son to the ground, causing injuries. Before the attempted robbery, the man was caught by security and police while damaging several parked cars in the hospital parking lot. He had been treated at the same hospital the previous day following a similar incident of vandalism in Lizzanello.

In Rimini, a 49-year-old man was arrested by the Squadra Mobile for a series of pharmacy robberies in the Marecchiese area. Investigators determined that during one of the previous robberies, the suspect left his 10-year-old son waiting in a car while he entered the pharmacy. The suspect was intercepted by police while allegedly preparing for a new attack; during the encounter, he reportedly resisted officers and was found with a toy gun and clothing linked to the previous crimes.
