Lecco approves plan to convert municipal apartments into social housing

The municipality of Lecco has approved a program to transform 16 municipal apartments on Via Belfiore into social housing. The initiative aims to provide affordable rental units for the ‘grey area’—individuals whose income is too high to qualify for public housing but insufficient to afford private market rates.

Managed by Aler Bergamo-Lecco-Sondrio, the project involves applying for the Lombardy Region’s Social Housing call for tenders. If funding is secured, the apartments will be converted into social housing services for a maximum period of 25 years. Currently, 11 of the 16 units are vacant and require renovation and system upgrades. Five occupied units will see their residents relocated to other public housing through regional mobility procedures once the project is approved.
