Lecco civil protection celebrates patron saint and CCV anniversary

The Province of Lecco and the Volunteer Coordination Committee (CCV) held celebrations in Galbiate to honor San Pio da Pietrelcina, the patron saint of civil protection. The event also marked the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the CCV.

During the ceremony at the Sala al Barro Multipurpose Emergency Center, officials emphasized the indispensable role of volunteers in community safety. President of the Province of Lecco, Alessandra Hofmann, described volunteers as a fundamental and irreplaceable resource for the provincial civil protection system. Antonio Leonardo Pasquini, delegate for civil protection, noted the event serves as a moment to reflect on the synergy between institutions and volunteers.

The program included a Mass and the inauguration of a restructured operational secretariat camper, a project completed by students from the Enaip Foundation. Additionally, the event highlighted new equipment initiatives, such as the provision of motor pumps and uniform gear, to ensure better coordination and immediate response during flooding incidents in the Lecco area.
