Lecco Committee calls for Third Sector inclusion in Mattei Plan talks

The Lecco Committee for Peace and Cooperation between Peoples has called on the Municipality of Lecco to ensure a participatory dialogue regarding the Mattei Plan and international cooperation.

The Committee expressed concern over being excluded from a meeting promoted by the municipality on September 10, 2026. They argued that excluding Third Sector entities ignores a significant local heritage of expertise and long-standing relationships with African communities.

While acknowledging the Mattei Plan as an opportunity, the Committee emphasized that international cooperation should not be viewed solely through the lens of business and economic development. They advocated for a strategy that centers on people, rights, sustainability, and shared development alongside economic actors.
