Lecco hosts 18th Promessi Sposi cultural festival

The eighteenth edition of the ‘Lecco città dei Promessi Sposi’ festival is scheduled to take place from October 2 to November 7. Promoted by the Municipality of Lecco through its urban museum system, the event will be hosted at Villa Manzoni and various other Manzonian sites across the city.

The festival’s central themes for this year are war, justice, and liberty. Artistic director Mauro Rossetto noted that these concepts, while central to Manzoni’s novel, remain highly relevant in the current historical context where democracy and rights are being re-examined.

The program includes scientific meetings, educational initiatives, music, theater, and social activities. Many events are free, though some require mandatory reservations. The festival returns to Villa Manzoni following recent renovations at the venue.
