Lechia Gdańsk Ends Transfer Ban After Paying Debts

Polish football club Lechia Gdańsk announced it has settled all outstanding payments required by FIFA and the Polish Football Association (PZPN), including a solidarity fee to Shakhtar Donetsk for the transfer of Bohdan Wjunnyk and overdue wages to players. The club is now awaiting the formal lifting of a transfer and registration ban that had prevented new signings from being listed for competition. Lechia hopes the ban will be removed in time to register its recent acquisitions for the upcoming Betclic I Liga match against Warta Poznań on 31 July.

The ban, imposed weeks earlier, had forced the team to rely on junior players, resulting in a 0‑3 defeat to Pogonia Grodzisk Mazowiecki. Players had not received May and June salaries, prompting legal notices and threats to terminate contracts. Coach Władysław Łupaszko and club officials indicated that once the ban is lifted, the squad will be reinforced with the new signings.
