Led Zeppelin grants rare permission for Narnia trailer music
Director Greta Gerwig has secured rare permission from Led Zeppelin to use the iconic song ‘Stairway to Heaven’ in the trailer for her upcoming Netflix adaptation, ‘Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew’. The band, known for its strict control over the track’s licensing, granted approval after Gerwig personally met with guitarist Jimmy Page and frontman Robert Plant to discuss the film’s themes.
Gerwig noted that the song’s exploration of spiritual journeys and the paths of good and evil aligns with the themes of C. S. Lewis’s fantasy world. The band members reportedly connected with the project due to their own appreciation for Lewis’s work.
The film, which is scheduled for a theatrical release in February 2027, features a cast including Daniel Craig, Meryl Streep, and Carey Mulligan. The trailer utilizes a remixed version of the 1971 classic to set the tone for the origin story of the Narnia universe.
