Lee Chang-dong wins Auteur Award and enters Venice Film Festival competition

Director Lee Chang-dong is receiving international acclaim for his new Netflix film, ‘Possible Love’. He has become the first South Korean director to win the Auteur Award at the 49th Mill Valley Film Festival in the United States.

Additionally, the film has been selected for the competition section at the 83rd Venice Film Festival, where it will compete for the Golden Lion. This marks Lee’s return to the Venice competition for the first time in 24 years, following his success with ‘Oasis’ in 2002.

‘Possible Love’ follows the lives of two couples—a pair of laid-off workers and a documentary filmmaking couple—as they encounter one another and face hidden desires. The film features a prominent cast including Jeon Do-yeon, Sol Kyung-gu, Jo In-sung, and Yeo Jin-goo. The film is scheduled for a limited theatrical release in South Korea before its global streaming debut on Netflix on November 6.
