Lee Chang‑dong's 'Possible Love' selected for Venice Film Festival competition

Director Lee Chang‑dong’s new Netflix‑produced film "Possible Love" has been officially invited to compete in the main competition section of the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, which runs September 2‑12. The invitation makes it the twelfth Korean film ever to appear in Venice’s competition lineup and the first since Lee’s acclaimed "Oasis" in 2002, marking his return to the festival after 24 years.

The drama follows two married couples—a laid‑off worker and his wife, and an affluent documentary filmmaker and her husband—who come together to make a documentary, confronting hidden desires. The cast includes Jeon Do‑yeon, Sul Kyung‑gu, Zo In‑sung and Cho Yeo‑jeong. "Possible Love" is Lee’s first feature in eight years after "Burning" (2018).

In addition to Venice, the film has been selected for the Special Presentations section of the 51st Toronto International Film Festival, where it will have its North American premiere in September.
