Lee Chong Wei Cup launched to develop Malaysian badminton talent

The inaugural Lee Chong Wei Cup has been officially launched, aiming to develop Malaysia’s next generation of badminton talent. The youth tournament is scheduled to take place from August 29 to September 6 at Stadium Juara, located next to the Academy Badminton Malaysia.

During the launch in Petaling Jaya, a handcrafted, gold-plated trophy was unveiled. The 12.5-kilogram trophy features motifs of a racket, net, and shuttlecock, designed to reflect the career and values of Malaysian badminton legend Lee Chong Wei. The tournament offers a total prize pool of RM100,000.

Several corporate partners have joined the event, including presenting partner Chery, equipment sponsor Yonex Sunrise, and host broadcaster Astro. Additional sponsors include U Mobile, CHAGEE, 100Plus, OPPO, Keyplus, IHH Healthcare Malaysia, Cat Day, and Akoof Food & Beverage.
