Lee Dong-gook faces negligence allegations at Yongin FC
Former national football player Lee Dong-gook, currently serving as the Technical Director for Yongin FC, is facing allegations of negligence regarding his attendance. Data released by Representative Kim Jae-won of the Rebuilding Korea Party revealed that between December 14 last year and October 17 this year, Lee’s office entry records showed he visited the Yongin Mir Stadium office only 26 times out of 308 days.
Lee holds a key position responsible for long-term club strategy, player development, and technical oversight, with an annual salary of 144 million won. Concerns have been raised regarding his participation in critical technical strengthening meetings; records show his office entry coincided with only one of the 14 scheduled meetings between March and October.
Yongin FC responded by stating that Lee is a non-resident service contractor and is not subject to the same attendance standards as regular employees. The club noted that entry records may not fully reflect actual work performed. Lee expressed regret that his non-resident status might appear insufficient to the public, maintaining that he has been working via mobile messengers and visiting the club up to three times a week recently.
