President Lee Jae-myung faces record low approval ratings

President Lee Jae-myung is facing a significant political challenge as his approval rating has dropped to 33.8%, the lowest since his inauguration. According to Realmeter polling, negative sentiment has risen to 63.3%. This decline coincides with a shift in party support, where the People Power Party (42.1%) has overtaken the Democratic Party (36.1%) in popularity.

In response to internal criticism from progressive factions regarding a perceived retreat in reform efforts, President Lee has publicly defended his agenda. He emphasized that he has never abandoned his reform goals but warned against 'radical incitement' that could obstruct progress through excessive speed or lack of consensus. This comes amid tensions over judicial reforms and personnel appointments.

Separately, marking the fourth anniversary of the Sindang Station stalking murder, President Lee addressed the need for stronger state intervention in protecting victims. He pledged that the government would continue to refine protection systems and ensure that crime response for women and youth remains robust during the ongoing separation of investigation and prosecution powers.
