Lee Jae-myung pledges direct communication with citizens via social media
President Lee Jae-myung has emphasized his commitment to direct communication with the public through social media, stating that such platforms serve as vital channels to bypass media distortion and misinformation. Responding to concerns that his increased social media activity might signal isolation, Lee asserted that he intends to use various methods—including press conferences, debates, field visits, and live broadcasts—to stay close to the people and listen to their voices.
Lee also urged his supporters to maintain dignity in their political expressions, advising against the use of derogatory language and suggesting that meaningful influence comes from winning public empathy rather than winning arguments.
Democratic Party Representative Kim Min-seok defended the President’s communication style, arguing against critics who view frequent social media use through traditional political lenses. Kim stated that the President should feel free to communicate with the public whenever necessary and that the people will ultimately judge the appropriateness of his actions. Kim further expressed confidence that if the administration continues to act with conviction and trust in the public, it will maintain its momentum.
