Lee Jae-yong visits Al Dhafra power plant in UAE

Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong visited the Al Dhafra gas-fired power plant construction site in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on October 21. During the visit, Lee inspected construction progress and safety management protocols at the large-scale infrastructure project.

The Al Dhafra plant is being built by a consortium led by Samsung C&T and local firm Trojan General Contracting to meet rising electricity demand in the UAE, including power needs for future AI data centers. Lee met with executives from Samsung C&T and Samsung E&A to discuss market shifts in the Middle East and strategies for entering new business sectors, such as next-generation energy infrastructure.

In response to regional geopolitical instability, Lee also focused on employee welfare. He held a luncheon with site workers to listen to their concerns and previously sent gifts and letters to 730 employees and their families stationed across nine Middle Eastern countries, including Saudi Arabia and Iran, to express gratitude for their dedication during difficult conditions.
