Lee Ju-ho wins silver in men’s 200m backstroke at Asian Games

South Korean swimmer Lee Ju-ho secured a silver medal in the men’s 200m backstroke at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games held at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre. Lee finished with a time of 1:56.58, trailing the gold medalist, Hidekazu Takehara of Japan, by just 0.16 seconds.

This achievement marks Lee’s second consecutive silver medal in this specific event, following his performance at the Hangzhou Games. Including his results in the 100m backstroke and the 400m medley relay at this competition, Lee has now amassed a total of nine Asian Games medals (three silver and six bronze).

Following the race, Lee expressed disappointment regarding the result, noting that his performance was below his personal best of 1:55.34. Despite the silver medal, he stated his primary goal remains the gold medal and expressed his intention to continue training for the upcoming World Championships and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
