Lee Kang-in joins Atletico Madrid, set to debut against Manchester City in Seoul

South Korean midfielder Lee Kang-in has completed a five‑year transfer to Spanish club Atletico Madrid, with the deal reported at €40 million (€35 million plus €5 million in bonuses). The move follows his departure from PSG and was confirmed by both Marca and the club’s official channels. Lee arrived in South Korea ahead of the team's pre‑season schedule and has been training intensively to be match‑fit.

Atletico will face Manchester City in a friendly at Seoul World Cup Stadium on 9 May as part of the 2026 Coupang Play Series. The match will mark Lee’s debut for his new club, with coach Diego Simeone and the squad already in the country. The fixture is expected to draw significant attention from fans in both South Korea and Europe.
