Lee Miller biopic 'The Photographer' premieres in German cinemas

The British biographical drama "The Photographer" about World War II photojournalist Elizabeth "Lee" Miller has opened in German cinemas in 2024. The film stars Oscar‑winner Kate Winslet as Miller and is directed by Ellen Kuras. Supporting cast includes Josh O'Connor as Miller’s son, Alexander Skarsgård as gallery owner Roland Penrose, and Andrea Riseborough as Vogue editor Audrey Withers. The story follows Miller’s rise from a 1930s fashion model to a pioneering war reporter for the British edition of Vogue and the American magazine Life, documenting her coverage of Nazi bombings, the liberation of France, and the horrors of concentration camps. The production features award‑winning cinematography by Pawel Edelman. German broadcaster Das Erste listed the film in its summer schedule, marking the first theatrical release of the biopic in Germany.
