Lee Min-ho stars in film about 1974 South Korean presidential assassination attempt

The upcoming mystery thriller film “The Assassin(s),” directed by Hur Jin-ho, is inspired by the 1974 assassination attempt on South Korean President Park Chung Hee. The historical event occurred during a live broadcast of a Liberation Day ceremony, resulting in the death of First Lady Yuk Young Soo while the President survived.

Starring Lee Min-ho, Park Hae-il, and Yoo Hae-jin, the film follows a group of individuals attempting to uncover inconsistencies in the official investigation. Lee Min-ho portrays Young-il, a rookie reporter from a wealthy family who witnesses the incident and pursues the truth despite the political pressures of the era. Park Hae-il plays a senior editor, and Yoo Hae-jin plays a senior inspector, both working to investigate the discrepancies surrounding the shooting.
