Lee Seung-chul reflects on 40-year music career in KBS documentary

Singer Lee Seung-chul is reflecting on his 40-year music career in the KBS 2TV original documentary ‘Never Ending Lee Seung-chul’. The program explores his journey from a student leading a ‘double life’ as a performer in high school to becoming a prominent figure in the Korean rock scene as the vocalist for the band Boohwal.

During the broadcast, Lee expressed deep regret regarding his past drug-related incidents in the late 1980s and early 1990s, which resulted in a five-year hiatus from broadcasting. He specifically noted the personal toll these events took on his family, stating that his mother ended her 43-year career in education due to the scandal.

To overcome the period of professional isolation, Lee pivoted toward live performances, eventually earning the nickname ‘Emperor of Live’ by performing extensively across the country and producing live concert videos. The documentary aims to portray him not just as a veteran artist, but as a ‘present-tense artist’ who continues to pursue music with passion.
