Lee Seung-yuop to step down as Yomiuri Giants batting coach
The Yomiuri Giants have announced that batting coach Lee Seung-yuop will step down from his position at the end of the current season. Lee, a former Giants player who recorded 626 career home runs across Japan and South Korea, originally joined the coaching staff as a temporary instructor during the autumn training camp last year before receiving a formal offer.
During his tenure, Lee worked alongside batting coach Zelas Wheeler. Despite the team finishing the regular season in second place, the Giants were eliminated from the Climax Series following two consecutive losses to DeNA.
Reflecting on his time with the club, Lee expressed his gratitude, stating, “It was good to have the experience as a coach for the Giants. I want to say ‘thank you very much’ to the Giants. It was a great experience for me. Japan is wonderful.”
