Lee Sichuan apologizes for misidentifying 307 bus route

Lee Sichuan, a candidate for New Taipei City mayor, issued an apology after incorrectly stating that the 307 bus route travels through Sanxia and uses the highway. The 307 route is a major transit line in the Taipei-New Taipei area, recording 16.39 million passengers in 2024.

Following the error, Lee stated he personally took a trip on the 307 bus to address the mistake, noting that while he was caught in the rain, he wanted to emphasize his commitment to improving regional transportation networks. He argued that cross-city bus routes and bridges should not be managed separately by different administrative divisions to reduce the commuting burden on citizens.

Critics have questioned the accuracy of his explanation, noting that his campaign initially attempted to frame the error as a misunderstanding of different routes before he admitted to simply misremembering the 307's path. Some commentators have used the incident to question his familiarity with local transportation infrastructure despite his previous roles in government.
