Lee Yong-pil inaugurated as president of KEIT
Lee Yong-pil, a former spokesperson for the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, has been inaugurated as the 6th president of the Korea Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology (KEIT). An expert in industrial policy, Lee previously held several key positions within the ministry, including Director General for Advanced Industry Policy and Head of the Planning and Coordination Office.
In his inaugural address, Lee emphasized that industrial technology has evolved into a strategic asset critical to national growth and security. He outlined four primary strategic directions for the agency: driving the AI transformation (M.AX) in manufacturing, building a resilient industrial ecosystem, strengthening industrial technology policy support, and enhancing KEIT’s reliability as an R&D specialist.
Lee pledged to secure technological advantages in national strategic industries such as semiconductors, displays, and biotechnology. He also intends to implement a virtuous cycle where R&D achievements lead to investment and finance, while utilizing data and agentic AI to improve the efficiency and professionalism of planning, evaluation, and performance management.
