Lee Young-ae reunites with 'Dae Jang Geum' culinary mentor

Actress Lee Young-ae recently shared photos on social media documenting a reunion with Han Bok-ryeo, the renowned court cuisine researcher who served as a mentor during the filming of the 2003 MBC drama ‘Dae Jang Geum’ (Jewel in the Palace).

Han Bok-ryeo, a holder of the intangible cultural property for ‘Joseon Dynasty Court Cuisine’ and chairperson of the Royal Cuisine Research Institute, was responsible for the historical accuracy of the culinary scenes in the drama. She also provided hands-on instruction to the cast, including teaching them proper knife skills.

Lee Young-ae expressed her deep respect and gratitude for Han, referring to her as ‘my teacher’ in her post. The meeting took place as the Royal Cuisine Research Institute marks its 50th anniversary. Lee is currently preparing for her upcoming drama, ‘Jay’s Young-in’, which marks her first collaboration with actor Yoo Ji-tae in 25 years.
