Leech removed from woman's eye in Tuyen Quang

A 57-year-old woman in Yen Lap, Tuyen Quang, was treated after a leech entered her eye. The patient sought medical attention at the Chiem Hoa Regional Medical Center after experiencing persistent discomfort, irritation, and tearing.

Medical staff discovered a leech approximately 2 cm long attached to her eye. The foreign object was successfully removed, and the patient was provided with follow-up care instructions.

Doctors warned that leeches or similar organisms can enter the eyes or nose when people come into contact with forest environments or untreated natural water sources. They advised against using untreated stream, pond, or lake water for facial hygiene and cautioned against attempting to remove such foreign objects using folk remedies or manual tools, as this can cause further injury.
