Leeds City Council advances community assets and housing plans

Leeds City Council has approved several local development and community preservation initiatives. In Armley, the former Stocks Hill Hub mental health centre has been designated as an Asset of Community Value (ACV). This status allows the Idarah Ansarul Hussain Cultural Centre, a local charity, the opportunity to raise funds to purchase the building should it be put up for sale, providing a six-month window to prepare a bid.

Separately, a planning application has been submitted for a new council housing development in Farsley. The proposed project on Richmond Road aims to build 25 one- and two-bedroom apartments on a vacant brownfield site. The scheme, part of the Council Housing Growth Programme, has been revised following local resident feedback to reduce the building's height and number of units. The apartments are intended for residents on the Leeds housing register and will include sustainable energy features and electric vehicle charging stations.
