Leeds United and Aston Villa chase Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki

Leeds United have opened negotiations to sign 23‑year‑old Japanese goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, who currently plays for Parma. The club sees Suzuki as a long‑term solution after the departure of Illan Meslier and the imminent expiry of Karl Darlow’s contract. Parma have set a price tag of more than €30 million and will only consider offers that meet the valuation, with the player contracted until 2029.

Aston Villa are also reported to be interested, hoping to lure Suzuki with the prospect of Champions League football. Fabrizio Romano confirmed the heightened Premier League interest, noting that the competition between Leeds and Villa could push the transfer fee higher. Suzuki, a key figure for both Parma and the Japan national team, has recovered from a long injury spell and re‑established himself as Parma’s first‑choice keeper.
