Leeds United loanees face contrasting fortunes in Italy
Several Leeds United players currently on loan in Italy are facing different levels of scrutiny and praise.
Torino manager Ignazio Abate is facing questions regarding his continued support for goalkeeper Lucas Perri. The Brazilian, who joined Torino on loan from Leeds in August, has struggled with several difficult performances in Serie A, including costly errors in matches against Fiorentina and Roma. Abate has defended the 28-year-old, citing recent injuries and the challenges of adapting to new tactical demands, while the club's coaching staff has implemented individual training to assist his transition.
In contrast, winger Willy Gnonto has received praise during his loan spell at Fiorentina. Italian scout Michele Fratini lauded the 22-year-old for his determination and movement, noting his ability to reach difficult balls. Gnonto has already made an impact in the Coppa Italia, scoring in matches against Pisa and helping the team progress. Fiorentina holds a €15m option to sign Gnonto permanently next summer.
