Leeds University Business School launches new accounting degree with Grant Thornton UK

Leeds University Business School has announced a four‑year BSc Accounting and Finance (Professional) degree developed in partnership with Grant Thornton UK. The programme, called the Talent Track, blends academic study with paid work experience, offering placements in the first, second and fourth years and a full‑year placement with Grant Thornton during the third year. Graduates will be considered for permanent roles at the firm and may receive an ACA training agreement, providing a fast‑track route to chartered status.

The inaugural cohort begins in September 2026. Abigail Fisher, Chief People Officer of Grant Thornton UK, said the scheme “creates a clear, accelerated route to chartered status for ambitious students and breaks down traditional barriers to opportunity,” emphasizing the firm’s commitment to social mobility. Professor Julia Bennell, Executive Dean of Leeds University Business School, highlighted the combination of academic rigour and professional experience as a way to build knowledge, confidence and professional networks for future careers in accountancy and finance.
