Lefkoşa police investigate attempted murder, arson, and drug trafficking

Authorities in Lefkoşa are investigating several criminal incidents involving attempted murder, arson, and drug trafficking.

Two Nigerian suspects, F. O. N. O. and A. M. O. A., appeared in court regarding an attempted murder charge. Police report that following a dispute over money related to sexual services, the suspects allegedly caused a victim to fall approximately 9.5 meters from a building. The victim was treated in intensive care and later moved to a neurosurgery ward. The suspects have been remanded in custody for eight days as police examine camera footage and witness statements.

In a separate incident, two individuals, A. A. and A. B., were apprehended at Ercan Airport while attempting to flee the country. They are accused of arson after setting fire to a vehicle inside a gallery in Lefkoşa using a flammable mixture made from cologne. They have been remanded for three days.

Additionally, a suspect, O. Z. B., was detained at the Metehan Kara border crossing for illegal drug possession. Police seized approximately 2 kilograms of a substance believed to be cannabis. The suspect allegedly admitted to importing the drugs from Southern Cyprus to deliver them to a location in Lefkoşa.
