Left Alliance denounces electoral corruption in Azilal

The Left Alliance in Azilal province, comprising the United Socialist Party and the Democratic Left Federation Party, has denounced practices that threaten the integrity of the upcoming legislative elections scheduled for September 23, 2026.

In a formal statement, the alliance criticized the lack of political will to implement transparency measures, such as creating an independent electoral oversight body and adopting national ID cards for automatic registration. They specifically condemned the misuse of public funds, state vehicles, and the organization of communal banquets to influence voters. The alliance also accused regional and local leaders in the Beni Mellal-Khenifra region of using their official capacities during political gatherings.

The group called on public authorities to move beyond “passive neutrality” and intervene strictly to ensure equal opportunity and legal compliance. Furthermore, the alliance criticized local governance since 2016 for failing to improve living conditions, citing protests over isolation, lack of basic services, and high costs of living as evidence of administrative failure. They also urged Maroc Telecom to address frequent internet and telephone service disruptions in several Azilal communes.
