Lefteris Petounias prepares for eighth rings final at World Championships
Greek gymnast Lefteris Petounias is set to compete in his eighth career rings final at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Rotterdam. The 36-year-old Olympian secured the final qualifying spot following a high-stakes performance where a landing error cost him valuable points, a situation he described as the “biggest thriller” of his career.
Petounias earned a score of 14.033 in the qualifying round to claim the eighth position in the lineup. He will compete for his fifth world medal on Saturday, October 24. His previous world championship achievements include three gold medals (2015, 2017, 2018) and one silver medal (2023).
