Lega del filo d’oro center praised by Italian medical board

The governing board of the Italian National Federation of Medical Orders (Fnomceo), led by President Toti Amato, recently visited the Lega del filo d’oro center in Termini Imerese, Sicily. The facility is a specialized residential and day-care center dedicated to supporting individuals with deaf-blindness and complex multisensory disabilities.

The center, which has been operational since 2010, provides a model of care that integrates healthcare, rehabilitation, education, and family support. Currently, the facility can accommodate up to 24 residents and 8 individuals in its day-care program. However, medical officials noted that there are still 13 people on the waiting list for services.

During the visit, Fnomceo leadership praised the center as a model of excellence, emphasizing the importance of improving communication autonomy for patients and the need to increase public awareness of such specialized care facilities.
